A Very Merry Christmas

Hope you all had a great weekend!!

I had an awesome weekend with my family. Christmas Eve was our day to get together this year so Christmas Day was a relaxing day to just hang out.

Christmas Eve:

The day started off with a last minute grocery store run and then we finished up wrapping presents and putting everything under the tree.

I had been looking for gingerbread house kits to have around the house for my niece, nephews and I to decorate a gingerbread house and gingerbread men, but they were sold out everywhere. Luckily, my mom saved the day and found one at Target. This was my first time decorating a gingerbread house and it was so much fun!!

We had a ton of frostings, candies and sprinkles to decorate the gingerbread men and house with. It took a little while to get the walls of the house to stay up, but we got the hang of it eventually!

We split the house into two parts, one side was my nephew’s to decorate, one side was my niece’s. It was fun to see how different both sides were!!

Of course we also had fun decorating gingerbread men!

Dinner was amazing as always, my parents really are fantastic cooks!!

On my plate was the best smoked turkey in the world, mashed sage butternut squash (so good!!), mashed potatoes, roasted green beans & brussel sprouts, gravy, bread & my usual cranberry sauce with a bit of fresh pomegranate juice added in. The meal was delicious and I am soooo glad we have leftovers!!

After dinner we had a huge platter of gingerbread cookies, almond cookies, butterballs, the greatest fudge ever and a ton of other amazing cookies!! Again, so glad there’s leftovers!

After dinner and present opening, my sister, nephew, niece and I all headed over to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie. I was awake and going strong for the first hour or so, but after then I was pretty exhausted and almost fell asleep!

Christmas Day:

My parents & I started off with breakfast together and then headed into the living room to open presents.

I got so lucky and got such generous presents, and I’m so glad my whole family loved their’s!

We spent the rest of the day just hanging out and enjoying the day!

Hope you all had an amazing weekend full of love & happiness.

Questions:

How did you spend your weekend?

See above :)

What’s your favorite part of the holiday season?

It sounds cheesy, but being with my family really is my favorite part about the holidays!! We don’t get together too often, so when we do it’s the best! My family is full of hilarious people so every family gathering there is a ton of laughter!
